An Intimate All-White Wedding at The Hotel Britomart, Auckland
Words & flowers by Ivy Diao

Amanda and Bryan celebrated their intimate Auckland city wedding at The Hotel Britomart, surrounded by cloud-like arrangements of white roses, hydrangeas and delicate baby’s breath.

There is something so special about an intimate city wedding. The day feels relaxed and personal, while the surrounding architecture and energy of the city bring a wonderful sense of occasion. Amanda and Bryan’s wedding at The Hotel Britomart was exactly that.
Set in the heart of downtown Auckland, their celebration combined a light-filled ceremony, joyful portraits around Britomart and a warm dinner shared with their closest family and friends.
When Amanda first approached me, she already had a very clear vision for her wedding flowers. She loved the timeless beauty of white roses and the soft, delicate feeling of baby’s breath.
Inspired by her ideas, we created cloud-like floral arrangements using white roses, hydrangeas and airy layers of baby’s breath. The hydrangeas gave each design beautiful fullness, while the baby’s breath created a light, floating effect around the roses.
The result felt soft, romantic and elegant—exactly the atmosphere Amanda had imagined for her intimate wedding at The Hotel Britomart.
Cloud-Like White Ceremony Flowers
Amanda and Bryan held their ceremony in one of The Hotel Britomart’s intimate event spaces.
The room’s white brick walls, tall windows, natural timber flooring and soft neutral curtains created a calm and welcoming setting. The flowers were designed to work with these existing textures, bringing softness and romance without making the room feel overly decorated.

Two generous floral arrangements placed on clean white plinths framed the ceremony. Designed with white hydrangeas, roses and clouds of baby’s breath, they created a beautiful focal point in front of the central window.
I loved the contrast between the fullness of the hydrangeas and the lightness of the baby’s breath. The modern white plinths kept the design clean and contemporary, allowing the flowers to appear as though they were floating within the room.
Ivory Ribbon Bows Along the Aisle
To decorate the ceremony aisle, I tied long ivory ribbon bows to the chairs and placed small floral clusters at considered intervals.

The flowing ribbons introduced softness and movement without requiring flowers beside every row. Their warm ivory tone connected naturally with the white and cream flowers while standing out beautifully against the black chairs.
This was also a thoughtful way to work within Amanda and Bryan’s floral budget. Rather than filling the entire aisle with flowers, the ribbons created visual impact and carried the romantic styling through the room. The floral investment could then be focused on the arrangements that mattered most, including the statement plinth flowers and Amanda’s bridal bouquet.
The result felt intentional and elegant. It is a lovely example of how thoughtful styling can transform a ceremony space without requiring an abundance of flowers.

Amanda’s Classic White Bridal Bouquet

Amanda carried a softly rounded bridal bouquet of white and ivory roses, white hydrangeas and baby’s breath.
Her love of white roses remained at the heart of the design. The bouquet was designed to feel full and romantic, with a clean, classic shape that complemented Amanda’s elegant strapless wedding gown.

Against Amanda’s simple gown and veil, the bouquet felt romantic without being overly formal. It also photographed beautifully against the brick, glass and modern architecture of the city.
A Coordinating White Buttonhole for Bryan
Bryan wore a white rose buttonhole with baby’s breath and a small touch of fresh green foliage.

It connected naturally with Amanda’s bouquet while standing out against his dark three-piece suit. The small green leaves gave the design definition, ensuring the white flowers remained visible in photographs.
Buttonholes may be one of the smallest floral details of a wedding, but they play an important role in bringing the couple’s look together. Bryan’s felt polished, timeless and perfectly in keeping with the simplicity of the day.
Wedding Portraits Around Britomart
After the ceremony, Amanda and Bryan stepped outside for portraits around Britomart and central Auckland.

This is one of the loveliest parts of having a wedding at The Hotel Britomart. The surrounding streets offer so many different backdrops within a short walk—from historic brick buildings and grand façades to contemporary glass, patterned paving and the lively atmosphere of the city.
Amanda and Bryan looked completely at ease as they walked through Britomart hand in hand. Amanda’s veil moved softly in the breeze, while her rounded white bouquet remained a constant part of the photographs.
The contrast felt especially beautiful: a classic white wedding dress and timeless flowers set against the lines, colours and movement of downtown Auckland.

Repurposing the Ceremony Flowers for the Reception
After the ceremony, both the plinth arrangements and the smaller ground arrangements from the aisle were moved and repurposed around the head table.

This gave the reception an abundant floral focal point without creating an entirely new set of arrangements. It also allowed Amanda and Bryan to enjoy their ceremony flowers throughout the evening, while making thoughtful use of their floral budget.
Paired with single white roses in slender glass bud vases and warm candlelight along the guest tables, the repurposed flowers created a reception that felt cohesive, romantic and beautifully considered.

Surrounded by candlelight and their closest family members, Amanda and Bryan cut their cake together—a simple and joyful ending to a beautifully personal Auckland wedding.
Timeless All-White Wedding Flowers in Auckland
Amanda and Bryan’s wedding was a lovely example of how an all-white floral palette can feel both timeless and modern.
The classic roses brought romance, hydrangeas added softness and volume, and baby’s breath introduced the airy, cloud-like quality Amanda had envisioned from the beginning.
Every part of the floral design was created to suit the couple, the scale of the celebration and the atmosphere of The Hotel Britomart.
